We’re now counting down to the full release of the Infernal Hunt books! Infernal Ties is currently available for pre-order on Amazon, for just 99c! With that in mind, I thought it was about time to introduce you to the main characters of my beloved urban fantasy series.
Evelyn Hawke is the narrator and protagonist of the Infernal Hunt series. This means that it’s a little hard to find lines that encapsulate her because, they’re all written from her point of view! Evelyn, who’s usually called Evie by those close to her, is a strong kick-ass woman. She was born and raised as a hunter, this means she grew up helping her parents keep the supernals of the city in line. She squares up to lycans who’re two or three times her size, stares down redcaps with their filthy fingernails, and taunts witches as they’re throwing curses at her.
I feel like these lines are so very Evie.
In the first one she’s showing her cynicism, her rather dark view of all things magical. In the second she’s showing one of her favourite things in the world – roughing up supernals. She gets bored when the city is quiet and calm, it eats at her when she isn’t out there in the middle of some trouble.
If you met her on the street you wouldn’t expect her to be on her way to glare down some lycans. She has thick, long dark hair, bright green eyes, a pretty smile, and slender athletic build. Then you’d notice her stylish yet practical leather jacket, that she loves more than just about anything in this world. Below that, you’d likely see the many blades she has on her person at all times. Don’t worry, there are many more than you wouldn’t see too.
When you get past her brusque exterior and see through the cynicism and smart mouth, you’ll find a passionate, caring, and slightly broken young woman. She’s a protector. She’d do whatever it takes to keep her twin and her friends safe. The idea of giving her life to do just that is one she’s quite comfortable with.
She’s given up a lot for her city. She stands proudly on the hill watching over everyone else making sure that they’re safe, and some days that’s easier than others.
Thanks for your love and support everyone. It means the world to me.
